Nikhit Bhatia is Head of Sales at gk. He’s one of the newer additions to our team, but you’d never know it given the tremendous strides he’s made in streamlining our sales processes, his devotion to the gk team and product, and his ability to build meaningful relationships with our clients. Here Nikhit discusses his unique background, his thoughts on collaboration, competition and growth, and his feelings about the importance of team culture.
Can you tell me a little about yourself, your background, and your interests outside of work?
I like to consider my background unique. I grew up with two parents who were born and raised in India, however I spent my childhood growing up in the Netherlands, Germany, and the US. My extended family will say I became “Americanized” almost immediately upon arrival. Outside of work I enjoy playing basketball and golf, as well as travel, hiking, and investing.
What’s something you’re very good at?
While I have not been able to play as much as I’d like lately, I like to think I was once a pretty good basketball player. Not to brag, but my high school basketball team won the championship two years in a row. I believe my love for the sport has built a foundation of character traits— values such as collaboration and competitiveness— that have helped me to build a successful career.
What brought you to GK, and why is it a good fit for you?
GreenKey’s culture and work ethic. Even during the interview process it was clear that this is a group of very talented individuals who are all working hard to grow the company and to ensure its success. You can feel the dedication from all our employees, which motivates me to deliver on my own goals.
What’s the most important aspect of your role?
Being in sales, this answer may sound clichéd, but the most important part of my role is building trusted relationships with our clients. I love talking to prospects and working together to identify solutions that will address their major challenges. This is vital to a company of our size. It provides the product team with a feedback loop to continually improve our offerings based on market needs, and it helps GreenKey to continue growing at a fast pace.
Do you have a favorite mantra or quote?
“What we do in this lifetime echoes in eternity.” Or, a close second would be: “As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a gangster.”
Who do you most admire at GK and why?
This is a tough question because I honestly admire everyone who works here for a variety of reasons. But someone who never ceases to amaze me is our Chief Data Scientist, Tejas Shastry. You look at his calendar on a weekly basis, and he barely has a moment to breathe. Despite his seniority level he embodies everything gk is about, he is involved continually in every aspect of the business, from sales and marketing, to technology. His time management and complex problem-solving ability are probably the things I admire most about him.
